Care For Your Child's Smile
Dental Cleanings
Just like adult teeth, baby teeth can get covered in a sticky film or dental plaque making it important for children to come in regularly for cleaning appointments
X-Rays
Dental X-rays provide valuable information in evaluating your child's oral health. With the help of X-rays, we can look at what is happening beneath the surface of your child's teeth and gums, and evaluate the growth and development of the future adult teeth.
Hygiene Instruction
At each dental cleaning appointment, our registered dental hygienist will discuss and demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques with your child. Depending on the age of the child, the dental hygienist may also discuss brushing and flossing techniques with the parent. We provide these hygiene instructions so that the parent can better help their child stay healthy in between office visits.
Fluoride Treatment
At the end of each dental cleaning appointment, our registered dental hygienist will offer a fluoride treatment or "tooth vitamins" for your child. Fluoride is a mineral treatment that helps to prevent tooth decay. We offer a variety of flavors that can either be applied by a cotton swab for our younger patients or as a mouth rinse for our adolescent patients.
Dental Sealants
Dental Sealants are thin, white plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars and pre-molars) to protect them from tooth decay or cavities. Most cavities in children and teens occur on these surfaces because the narrow grooves are hard to clean. Sealants protect chewing surfaces from tooth decay by keeping bacteria and food particles from collecting in these grooves.
